Project title: Mobility Management using Hierarchical Mobile IP (HMIP)
Technologies: MS Windows XP, Visual Studio 6, OPNET Modeler 14.0 (Simulator)
Brief Description:
In the wireless domain, management of frequent mobility of the Mobile Node (MN) is a challenging issue. Frequent change of network requires a new IP address to route packets from host to host. It is done by performing binding update MN with the Home Agent (HA) when the Care of Address (CoA) changes. This registration requires large number of location updates, excessive signaling traffic and service delay. This problem is solved by HMIP using the concept of hierarchy of Foreign Agent (FA) and the Gateway Foreign Agent (GFA)/ Mobility Access Point (MAP) to localize the registration information. This article presents an overview of set of HMIP based mobility protocols with their advantage and disadvantages and a network model is proposed removing the binding update with HA and simulates its performance in OPNET Modeler simulator.
